Auburn University issues safety notice after student reports being verbally assaulted at gunpoint

AUBURN, Ala. (WIAT) — A public safety notice has been issued after a student reported having a gun pointed at him and being verbally assaulted by what he says were “bearded white males.”

The student told police that it happened Monday while he was walking along Magnolia Avenue near Wire Road. He says men in a dark-colored truck with Greek letters stopped him, yelled obscenities along with “Quincy,” and threatened him. He reported the passenger pointed what appeared to be a black semi-automatic handgun.

The student told officials he yelled, “I am not Quincy,” and the truck drove off.

The Auburn Public Safety/Emergency Management team is asking student to stay aware of your surroundings and report any suspicious activity to the Auburn Police.
