BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Parts of eastern Tennessee are trying to regroup following raging wildfires that forced an evacuation and came close to the popular theme park Dollywood.
Amber Davis from Dollywood joined us to talk about the plans to regroup and Dolly Parton’s role in helping people rebuild.
“Dollywood is open. We’re open through January 1 for this season, so please come visit,” Davis said. “You know people ask how you can help. That’s how you can help. We’re an economic driven community and we need our tourism.”
Davis says they’re planning a telethon to raise money for the My People Fund. Through the fund, Dolly Parton will donate $1,000 a month for Sevier County families who homes were destroyed in the fires.
