CALHOUN COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office made a significant donation Tuesday to the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home.
Sheriff Matthew Wade tells us he and his deputies took two approaches to raise the nearly $5k donation. First, deputies were allowed to have beards in November and December if they payed $25 each month.
They raised the rest of the money from donations at their 12th annual turkey fry.
“We believe in being a part of our communities,” Wade said. “It is our hope that others find a way to give to someone during this season.”
Wade and his deputies presented a giant check made out to the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home for $4,855.50. They wrote in the “For” section: “#ServantsHeart.”
