CULLMAN COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — The Cullman County Sheriff Thursday announced the arrest of a Russellville man for sexual child abuse.
38-year-old Jason Allen McCurry was arrested Wednesday after an investigation revealed he had allegedly sexually molested a child under 12, officials say.
According to the sheriff’s office, the victim came to Cullman County investigators after the incident occurred, and the suspect was indicted by a grand jury a short while later.
McCurry has been charged with Sexual Abuse of a Child Under 12, Sodomy 1st, and Enticing a Child for Immoral Purposes–all of which are felonies.
“I just can’t see how someone would want to harm a child. There is no punishment severe enough for anyone who does this to a child,” Sheriff Matt Gentry said. “I would like to think our investigators for doing a great job on this case.”
McCurry is being held in the Cullman County Detention Center. His bond is set at $100,000.
No details will be released due to the graphic nature of the crime.
