CENTER POINT, Ala. (WIAT) — A 16-year-old girl has been taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a car that she jumped from.
According to Jefferson County deputies, the girl was hit this afternoon around 4:15 p.m. in the 100 block of 14th Ave NW in Center Point.
Information at the scene revealed the girl was riding in the front passenger seat of a car driven by an 18-year-old friend. As they were driving along 14th Ave NW, she jumped out and fell. She was then hit by the car she was riding in.
Deputies say the male driver is cooperating with the investigation and is being questioned.
Currently, the sheriff’s traffic accident reconstruction team is on the scene to determine what exactly happened.
