Birmingham man arrested in drug trafficking bust, including fentanyl

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — According to Senior Trooper Chuck Daniel, agents with ALEA and SBI closed a narcotics investigation with the arrest of Charles Walker, 45, on Thursday, December 8.

Senior Trooper Daniel said that as part of a joint investigation with Homeland Security Investigations, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Birmingham Police Department’s NET team, agents seized 1,700 grams of heroin with fentanyl (street value of $500,000), 90 grams of crack cocaine (street value of $9,000), $55,000 in cash, one handgun and one vehicle.

Walker is charged with Trafficking in Cocaine, Trafficking in Heroin and Trafficking in Synthetic Controlled Substance. He was booked into the Jefferson County Jail.
