BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a known sex offender, Doug House, who was convicted of sex abuse in St. Clair County.
Before House was released from prison in August, he submitted a new Birmingham address to the Department of Corrections.
However, he failed to alert local law enforcement.
“In prison, they are given the law, they are counseled on how to obey the sex offender notification act law,” said Mike Hale, Jefferson County Sheriff. “Sometimes, they can’t just deal with the success of getting out of prison. Sometimes they feel like there are outstanding warrants against them. Whatever the reason, it’s just an excuse in their mind.”
House is wanted for failing to register as a sex offender in Jefferson County, and deputies believe he is somewhere in the Birmingham area.
If you see him, call the Jefferson County Sexual Predator Hotline at (205) 325-4779.
