TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — The investigation of a deadly crash involving a tow truck driver shut down part of Interstate 20-59 Wednesday morning in Tuscaloosa.
State troopers from the ALEA Traffic Homicide Unit worked at the crash site from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. in the northbound lane at mile marker 73. The troopers were putting down spray paint markers and mapping the scene.
25-year-old John William Hubbard of Bessemer was the tow truck driver killed Saturday in the fatal wreck. Hubbard was standing along the side of the highway when another driver crashed into the car the victim was working on.
There is a GoFundMe account set up to benefit his family to help with the costs of his funeral.
The crash is still under investigation.
