Shooting at unlicensed drinking establishment leads to homicide investigation

BIRMINGHAM, Ala (WIAT) — UPDATE DEC. 30: The District Attorney’s office has ruled this shooting justifiable.

UPDATE DEC 19: Tony Damon Parham, 37, has been identified as the shooting victim.

ORIGINAL: Birmingham Police are conducting a homicide investigation after an early morning shooting. Officers responded to the call of a male who was shot and brought to UAB hospital around 4:00 a.m., says Sgt. Shelton.

Shelton reports preliminary investigation has revealed the victim was shot in the 4200 block of Fairmont Way, which was described to police as an illegal or unlicensed drinking establishment. Allegedly an altercation took place over the victim’s presence at the location. The suspect has not been located. The victim’s name has been withheld pending notification of the family.

Authorities ask anyone with information pertaining to the case to please contact the B.P.D. Homicide Unit @ 254-1764 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.

WIAT is also working the case and will update as more information is discovered.
