eCO Savings Race: 2016 Year End Review

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – As we close 2016, we have an update on how the 5th edition of the eCO Savings Race is progressing.

Melissa Stewart says that the first four months of the eCO Savings Race have been very successful. All of the eight participating teams have completed Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University.

“I feel like that has helped them get some goals set up and ready to work on their financial pictures. They have also been meeting with their coaches on a regular basis. Those coach meetings provide the accountability that the teams need. And they have also worked with them to create budgets. Budgets are huge and a cornerstone to improving their finances,” Stewart said.

The eCO Credit Union has calculated how much all of the teams have saved and reduced debt. Overall, financial pictures have improved by $28,000.

In 2017, big changes are coming!

“We are going to be selecting three finalists to continue on that intensive coaching. The other five teams will also continue on their journeys and work with their coaches as well. The three finalist will compete for the $10,000 grand prize,” said Stewart.

Join us on January 2nd! That is when we will be announcing the finalists.
