Family holiday events to entertain the kids while school is out

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Are you having a hard time trying to figure out how to entertain the kids while they’re not in school for Christmas break? Look no further! We have found some events going on this week that your little ones may enjoy.

  • Alabama Theater: Christmas movie series
    • “White Christmas”: Tuesday, December 20 at 2 p.m.
    • “Meet Me in St. Louis”: Tuesday, December 20 at 7 p.m.
    • “A Christmas Story”: Wednesday, December 21 at 2 p.m.
    • “Elf”: Wednesday, December 21 at 7 p.m.
    • Cartoon Matinee Triple Feature: Thursday, December 22 at 2 p.m.
    • “Christmas Vacation”: Thursday, December 22 at 7 p.m.
    • “A Christmas Carol”: Friday, December 23 at 8 p.m.
  • Crafts, games and snacks each day this week at Homewood Library.
    • Each day is a different holiday or winter theme.
    • Rumble with Bumble at Round Auditorium on Tuesday, December 20 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
    • Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer at Round Auditorium on Wednesday, December 21 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
    • Heat Miser vs. Snow Miser on Thursday, December 22 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Zoo Light Safari at the Birmingham Zoo 
    • Open December 16-23 and 26-31 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
    • All-inclusive tickets include admission and unlimited rides on the Zoo’s Candy Cane Train, Jingle Bell Carousel, Yuletide Slide and Santa’s Roller Racers.
    • Dance to live music, write letters to and take photos with Santa.
