2 people, 2 dogs rescued from Vestavia Hills house fire

VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. (WIAT) — According to Vestavia Hills Fire Chief James St. John, they received a call of a structure fire after 4 a.m. on Friday. Two people were in a home that was on fire in Vestavia Hills on Woodwind Circle.

The two people are believed to be husband and wife. They suffered smoke inhalation, but they were transported to the hospital. They are expected to be okay.

Two dogs were also rescued from the home.

The fire was put under control, but the home suffered extensive damage.  An investigation is underway.
