Two men with gunshot wounds drive to fire station near Legion Field, taken to hospital

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Two black men suffering from gunshot wounds drove themselves to a fire station near Legion Field and were transported to a hospital for treatment, according to a release from Lt. Edwards with Birmingham Police.

The fire station is located on the 600 block of 1st Street West. One of the men is suffering from life-threatening injuries, and the other is not, according to police.

According to police, the victims were driving northbound when people from a passing car began to shoot at their vehicle. The victims fell out of the car, which traveled for a short distance on its own before falling out of the car.

Police have stated that they have suspects in mind for this shooting, along with a motive, and have put a lookout bulletin citywide for the suspect vehicle.

No one is in custody in connection with the shooting. WIAT will bring you more details as they emerge.
