BESSEMER, Ala. (WIAT) — Smoke poured from the Rooster’s Garage in Bessemer near the 2900 block of 9th Avenue South at around 3:30 on Tuesday morning, and 10 cars were lost, according to the Bessemer Fire Department.

Cesar Perez is the owner of the garage and he feels devastated by the loss.

“Everything is lost,” Perez said. “All my work lost, and my tools lost.”

Darrius Moore was getting work done on his car when he got a call from the owner Tuesday morning.

“I stopped by yesterday, and he said it was going to be finished today,” Moore said. “I thought he was calling to say I can pick it up, but he called me with this news. I asked them if this was my car when I got here, it was a little unrecognizable.”

Customers and Perez are planning to get with their insurance company to figure this out. Perez says he rents the building, and the landlord plans to rebuild, but it will take a couple months.

There were no injuries, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
