Mother, 3 children escape early morning house fire in Lipscomb

LIPSCOMB, Ala. (WIAT) — Firefighters are currently working to put out hot spots in a house fire in Lipscomb.

The fire occurred in the 1600 block of Margaret Avenue. According to officials, the fire started shortly after 4 a.m. Monday morning. Birmingham Fire officials assisted Lipscomb firefighters in controlling the blaze.

Fire officials initially had trouble with fire hydrants in the area, which caused a short delay. They were able to get the hydrants to work and were able to control the flames.

A mother and her three children were home when the fire started. They were able to escape before first responders arrived.

Fire investigators are currently on the scene. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
