BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying two female suspects believed to be responsible for shoplifting from two businesses.
On November 5th, police were called to Roses in the 800 block of Dennison Avenue. According to the police report, one suspect entered the store and attempted to steal multiple items by packing them in a suitcase that was also taken. The cashier attempted to stop the suspect, following her into the parking lot.
The suspect tried to enter a gold Toyota Camry that was waiting in the parking lot, occupied by another female suspect and a male driver. A struggle ensued between the suspect and the cashier, who was trying to recover the stolen items. The cashier was hit by the driver’s door in an attempt to flee.
The suspects hit another car in the parking lot while driving away. The cashier was able to recover the stolen merchandise and suffered minor injuries.
On November 17th, the same two female suspects entered a CVS Pharmacy in the 1400 block of 11th Avenue South. They shoplifted multiple items and fled the store with the merchandise once confronted by the store manager and cashier.
The employees pursued the suspects and a physical altercation occurred. According to court documents, one of the suspects dropped some of the stolen merchandise and one of the employees was able to recover it.
One employee told police that the suspects got into a silver Nissan Altima and that the driver of the car was inside the car waiting for the victims the whole time.
