Hoover Bucs Win 2nd straight state title

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) – The Hoover Bucs are your 7A state champs for a second straight year after beating McGill-Toolen Catholic 48-20 at Bryant-Denny Stadium Wednesday night. The win gives Hoover it’s 13th football title in program history.

The highly-anticipated championship rematch between the 11-3 Bucs and the 13-1 Yellowjackets was never close. The Bucs led 34-6 at halftime behind the strong play of quarterback Jalen Parker. Hoover racked up 325 yards on offense in the first half.

The win gives head coach Josh Niblett his 7th state title which is an AHSAA record. He’s won six with Hoover and one with Oneonta. The win gives Niblett a 129-16 at Hoover overall and a 41-4 mark in the playoffs.
