HOOVER, Ala. (WIAT) — Hoover Police have taken a 41-year-old man into custody after reports that he showed obscene photos to girls under the age of 10, according to a release from the department.
Police were notified of a case on Nov. 14 where an adult male reportedly showed the obscene photo to girls in the parking lot of Dollar General on Tyler Road. The victims told police that they were sitting in a vehicle when the suspect, Kevin Dewayne Turpin, approached the window with his cellphone in hand.
According to the victims, Turpin showed them an obscene photograph and then left the area. Police later reportedly found that two adult women had also been approached by the suspect while inside the Dollar General.
Turpin turned himself in to Hoover Police at 12:55 p.m. on Wednesday. He has been charged with four counts of Disseminating Obscene Material, and is being held on a $4,000 bond.
According to Captain Watson with Birmingham Fire, Turpin was arrested two weeks ago, and the charges were filed today. Turpin is currently still employed by with Birmingham Fire Department.
